Our mission
Since its creation in 1961, the Aigues-Vertes Foundation has supported adults living with intellectual disabilities with two objectives:
to support their daily autonomy,
to facilitate their participation in a social and professional life that is as "ordinary" as possible.
All our field actions and the support program we offer are guided by a strong conviction:
Listening, social integration, and the exercise of self-determination are the preferred ways to ensure that beneficiaries have an ordinary and fulfilling life.
Daily fulfillment results first and foremost from an inclusive approach, continuous listening and constant efforts to help each person reveal themselves.
The Aigues-Vertes Foundation's method is based on 4 complementary pillars that guarantee personalized support and cutting-edge best practices in patient care:

Our commitment
Excellence in the service of personal growth
A pioneer in inclusion, the Foundation

daily autonomy
In line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD),
The unique aspect of our support method is that we have fully integrated the Disability Production Process (DPP) upstream as a lens to adapt the environment in its smallest details in order to make it possible to learn autonomy and exercise self-determination.
A place for experience

The ordinary village of (extra)ordinary people
To stimulate socialization and create social bonds, the Aigues-Vertes Foundation has adopted the structure of a village with its homes, trades, workshops, farm, shops, restaurants, and sports facilities.

excellence
Well-being as the cornerstone of a quality experience
The Aigues-Vertes Foundation believes there is a clear continuity and reciprocity between the attention given to beneficiaries and the management of teams. It is the kindness shown to everyone, at all levels, that ensures a quality experience.
Our teaching expertise
In line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the unique feature of our support method is that we have fully integrated the concept of the Disability Production Process (DPP) upstream .
The PPH is a prism for adapting the environment in its smallest details in order to make possible the learning of autonomy and the exercise of self-determination.
Adapting the environment is the key to removing barriers, reducing obstacles, providing targeted technical assistance, optimizing accessibility and adapting signage.
This is essential work to facilitate everyday tasks and enable each beneficiary to fulfill essential social roles.
The cornerstone of our educational approach, the Personal Realization Project (PRP) allows each beneficiary to express their needs and desires.
Each beneficiary can define, if they wish, with the support of the teams and their entourage, annual objectives concerning their daily life, their work, their leisure and everything that matters to fulfill themselves.
The project (PRP) is based on the personal aspirations and abilities of the beneficiaries, rather than on their limitations of capacity.
A legal, normative and ethical framework, which is regularly questioned, guides our practices and this support work.

What is PPH?
The PPH (Personalized Disability Project) views disability as the result of the interaction between a person's abilities and environmental factors, leading to reduced social participation. If the environment in which a person lives is unsuitable, then that person will be considered disabled.
Two concrete examples to clarify:
Situation 1: A person is unable to shower independently because they have difficulty adjusting the water thermostat. Every day, when showering, this person experiences a disability because the shower environment is unsuitable.
The solution: Install a shower mixer tap designed to guarantee a constant water temperature. This simple environmental adaptation allows the person to shower independently.
Situation 2: A person is unable to read the newspaper because they are nearsighted. Every day, this person experiences a disability and someone has to read to them.
The solution: Wear a pair of glasses that are suitable for your vision.
This simple adaptation of the environment then allows this person to read independently.
